On March 5, 2026, the Asian Canadian Labour Alliance (ACLA) returned to the New One: Learning Without Borders Community Fair at New College, University of Toronto. The annual event brings together grassroots organizations and students in a space dedicated to community building and social justice.
ACLA’s booth drew students eager to learn about the role of Asian Canadian workers in the labour movement, the fight for fair union representation, and ongoing campaigns for migrant and precarious workers’ rights. A highlight of the booth was ACLA’s traveling exhibit, which features the stories of Asian Canadian workers across generations — bringing to life the often-overlooked contributions and struggles of a community that has long been at the forefront of the fight for workers’ rights. The exhibit sparked rich conversations among students, many of whom were encountering these histories for the first time.
Discussions at the booth also touched on systemic racism in the workplace, the growth of precarious gig work, and the importance of coalition-building across social movements. ACLA’s continued presence at the fair reflects a commitment to engaging the next generation of workers and advocates, ensuring that they know there are organizations ready to work alongside them in building a more equitable future.
